GESTALT K

Display Typeface Design and Creation of Perspex Hanging Installation

Designed by Studio Printmysoul founder Kladi, Gestalt K® is a display typeface inspired by her studies on Gestalt Theory of Perception.

The typeface uses modern geometric shapes and their positioning to create a full alphabet. It aims to show how our brain works to find sense. How close or far away objects are situated to each other will cause the brain to organize the objects into specific groups or patterns.

This was also created to research how dyslexia works on the perception of subjects that are affected by it, as is the creator of the typeface herself.

Visual studies on how shapes interact were carried out using wall art while the actual typeface was reproduced in perspex laser-cut single shape arrangement and hung from a wooden shelf to demonstrate with a live experience the process of "making sense".
